Containerized and breakbulk cargo services for the trade routes to and from Sao Tomé

Supermaritime Logistics BV, Rotterdam, are the General Agents for West-Africa Cargo Services (WACS), a vessel operating company that runs a two-weekly break-bulk and container service between Lisbon (Southern-Europe) and the island of Sao Tomé (West-Africa).

The service has been in operation since 2001 with 3 - 4 small multipurpose – geared vessels – with a DWT up to 7000ts, which generally offer a lifting capacity on average of 75 tons (tandem operations). Due to the shallow draft of the vessels, the service is able to call at other West-African ports with draft restrictions and limited quayside length.

To manage the local marine and port operations on Sao Tomé and Principe in-house, the Supermaritime Group opened a port office on the island of Sao Tomé in 2005. 

With a fleet of over 1000 dry van (20ft – 40ft) containers, the line is able to offer containerized cargo services for the trade routes to and from Sao Tomé, in addition to its break-bulk cargo services.
