Vlissingen, as part of NorthSea Ports, is centrally located on the estuary of the Western Schelde river and plays an important economic role in the Dutch province of Zeeland. The port of Vlissingen, as a major breakbulk port, owes this leading position among others to its easy access from the North Sea and to its excellent connections with the European hinterland by road, rail and inland waterways.

Major advantages of the Vlissingen port area are:

  • excellent, uncongested hinterland connections
  • deep navigation water for any type of vessel and hardly any tidal limitations
  • an open and direct access to the North Sea (no river or lock navigation required)
  • Highly motivated and very regional port labour workforce with an excellent Health & Safety track-record
  • The port tariffs for Vlissingen are highly competitive compared to other seaports in the region, and will help to keep the cost of vessel stays in Vlissingen low.
